4 reasons BioTE puts users’ cardiovascular systems at risk

On Behalf of | Feb 14, 2025 | Hormone Pellet Therapy Class Action |

BioTE Hormone Replacement Therapy faces several class action lawsuits primarily due to allegations of false advertising, health risks, lack of scientific proof and deceptive practices. Plaintiffs claim that BioTE misleads customers by promising to restore hormone levels to those of their 20s and 30s but instead raises them to unnatural and potentially dangerous levels. Among other adverse effects, introducing these hormones can affect your cardiovascular system.

1. Increased blood pressure

One way BioTE HRT can impact your heart is by increasing blood pressure. Estrogen, one of the hormones used in therapy, can cause your blood vessels to constrict or narrow. This makes it harder for blood to flow through them, increasing the resistance and raising blood pressure. High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, forces your heart to work harder to pump blood, which can lead to heart disease over time.

2. Blood clots

BioTE HRT can also increase the risk of blood clots. Estrogen can make your blood more likely to clot. Blood clots can block the flow of blood to your heart or brain, leading to a heart attack or stroke. This risk is higher for people who already have other risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as smoking, obesity or a family history of heart problems.

3. Cholesterol levels

Estrogen can affect your cholesterol levels, which are crucial for heart health. While estrogen can increase “good” HDL cholesterol levels, it can also raise “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. High LDL cholesterol levels can lead to plaque buildup in your arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis. This plaque can narrow or block your arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

4. Heart disease

Long-term use of BioTE HRT has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. Studies have shown that women who take hormone therapy, especially those who start it later in life, may have a higher risk of developing heart disease. The added hormones can accelerate plaque buildup in the arteries and increase the likelihood of blood clots.

Does any of this sound familiar?

It’s essential to be aware of the potential cardiovascular risks. If you used BioTE HRT and experienced one of the above cardiovascular issues, it may be possible to join class action lawsuits involving this type of hormone replacement therapy. It’s also important to note that doctors should never recommend this type of therapy to those at risk of cardiovascular issues.
